Introducing Nottingham’s own Redsmith Distillery..
One the highlights of running the Nottingham Restaurant and Bar Awards is not only the people you meet along the way that share a passion for all-things Nottingham but that they instil that passion into the product or service they deliver therefore help us all to cement the city and county’s rightful place on the culinary map.
One such person is Wayne Asher, the founder of Redsmith Distillery.
Redsmith Distillery is located in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. Behind an unassuming, unadorned frontage lies the gleaming copper still, ‘Jenny’. Designed and built by Wayne himself who studied at and is now a member of, the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, but bought all his skill and knowledge of an earlier career as a plumbing and heating engineer to what we all feel is a much better use!
And the awards he’s collected since the change in career bears that out..
Redsmith London Dry Gin first went on sale in May 2016 and soon gained reputation and praise, winning Gin of the Year at the Craft Distilling Expo in London the following October. This was backed up with the bottle label scooping Label of the Year at the UK Packaging Awards in 2017.
In April 2018 Redsmith London Dry Gin was awarded a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirit competition.
Redsmith London Dry Gin is the distillery’s signature product but there have also been limited release expressions, the most successful to date being Nottingham Dry Apple Gin made from Nottingham’s own Bramley Apple.
We’re delighted that Redsmith Distillery will be participating at the launch of the Nottingham Restaurant and Bar Awards on the 6th September at St Mary’s Church.
