NEW NOTTINGHAM RESTAURANTS & BARS IN OCTOBER 2018
We’re taking a look at the movers and shakers for this last month… new to the scene..
We’ve written about this in the past but Kushi-ya finally opened its doors to the public on the 4th October. Located in Cannon Court, this Japanese inspired diner is the creation of chefs Simon Carlin and Tom Clay, previously of Iberico World Tapas and The Railway at Lowdham respectively, who joined forces and stepped out into restaurant independence. We wish them well. To check them out go to @kushiyanott
Hoping to do well where Griddle and Shake and, more recently the news that Gourmet Burger Kitchen are to close 17 of its sites, a brand new gourmet burger restaurant opened its doors on Broad Street, next door to the Broadway, on the 26th October. Bohns, founded by Tom Bohns, has a straight forward, no-nonsense look with bench and high seating, wooden tables and floors. There’s also a small stage for live music. The emphasis is on quality and they create their own rubs and spices. For more information, go to www.bohnsrubs.co.uk
Some people will already know of, and have tried, Irie & Co, however this Caribbean Bar and Bistro has now opened much larger premises on High Pavement. Audience participation is positively encouraged whether through sampling what they boast is the ‘finest Caribbean drinks and mouth-watering food’ but also through dancing. Open six days a week, check out the 2 for 1 cocktails midweek. More details at @irieandco
The Curious Group have revamped the bar beneath Lost Property and it’s now a destination venue in its own right. The Resistance Bar has been adorned with appropriate memorabilia – the star of the show? Vodka.. in every guise! In keeping with the feeling of the place, why not opt for a ‘Molotov cocktail’? Opens on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm until 2am. Enjoy!
October saw the temporary closure of Cosmo Authentic World Kitchen located in Trinity Square after a misunderstanding over lease negotiations. But the owners have sought to assure regulars that they can expect the restaurant to re-open shortly once they’ve resolved all outstanding issues with their landlords.
Looking ahead, we welcome the return of Winter Wonderland to the Market Square for six weeks from the 15th of next month. Not only that, but Bar Iberico has been invited to join the fun with its own temporary tapas restaurant.
Bar Iberico will operate alongside Sur-La-Piste Bar, the super cool ice bar and, of course, the ice rink and Christmas Market. Check out @BarIberico and @wonderlandnottingham for more details.
