While we recognise any process is never going to beyond criticism we remain confident that the Nottingham Restaurant & Bar Awards provides a credible and truly unbiased snapshot of the Nottinghamshire restaurant and bar scene.

Best New Restaurant

Voted by the public in the first instance, this Nottinghamshire restaurant must have opened its doors for the first time between August 2017 and the 1st September 2018. The winning venue could be a small boutique restaurant or a large buzzing eatery, located in the city or outside.
The top nominated restaurants will then be put to our expert panel who will visit the restaurants anonymously to make the final decision.

We have defined a chain as having 10 or more sites anywhere in the UK. Chains are an important part of any city and county’s food and drink scene. This award celebrates those that offer the best dining/drinking experience of all the chains.

Recognising the newest bars, pubs or dining pubs which have opened between August 2017 and the 1st September 2018 in the city or county. Criteria for assessing this winner will be based on what this establishment offers to an already competitive market, standard of service, atmosphere, décor, individuality, food (if relevant), strong wine and/or cocktail list, it’s range of ales, ciders and beers, value for money.

Best Young Talent, Back of House

One of our most aspirational award categories, an award aimed at recognising and rewarding talented youngsters in Nottinghamshire’s kitchens.
Nominations are sought from venues across the city and county, from independents to chains, hotels and pubs. Each venue can submit up to two entrants, they must be between 18-23 years of age, sous chef level or below and be currently working in a kitchen either on a full time or part time basis.

The nominations will be paper judged by industry professionals with the top four going forward to a cook-off at Adams Restaurant, Nottingham College on Monday 12th November.
Best Young Talent, Front of House

The Best Young Talent – Front of House Award is designed to encourage and inspire people within Nottingham’s hospitality industry and to profile front of house as a well-respected profession. To enter you must be aged between 18 and 23 and work front of house, job titles can include waiter/waitress, manager, sommelier or bar person.
Each venue (restaurant, bar or pub) will be allowed to nominate two members of their team. The only stipulation will be that the applicant is a full time employee or a part time member of staff who is currently studying for a qualification in hospitality. The deadline for paper applications is the 12th October 2018.
The applicants will be paper judged by a number of industry peers with the top 4 being assessed during a lunch service to be held at the Adams Restaurant on Wednesday 21st November.

Who, or which venue, works tirelessly for their community, charity or cause? We want to know who the venues or unsung heroes and heroines are in our industry so that we can shout about them. Venues can nominate their own establishment and/or staff; the public can also nominate. This award will go the venue or person you believe puts others first. Using their talents, their connections, their venues to be able to raise funds for charity, display acts of kindness, constantly put others first.
As this is a very personal award, we will not provide a dropdown list, simply type in the box provided who you wish to vote for and, if you would, use the Description box to explain why this person or this venue deserves your vote.
Best Real Ale Pub

New for 2018 and celebrating the growing popularity of real ales and craft beers, we want you to vote for the venue that not only expertly manages and is extremely knowledgeable of their ales, but (where relevant) uses their beers in innovative ways such as in the dishes they serve. Alternatively, the venue you choose might simply offer great, comfortable surroundings or a wonderful outdoor area or perhaps nobody champions local ales like they do? The winning venue will be a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'cut above\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' the rest.
This award will be voted for by the public in the first instance with a shortlist formulated for industry experts to select an eventual winner. The best entries will be chosen by an expert panel and then visited by our judging panels.
Best Outdoor Space

We are looking for entries from the industry AND public on which venue it is felt offers a distinctive look and feel through its outdoor space. Consideration should be given to the setting, the comfort factor and the style of the outdoor furnishings and whether they add flair and quality to the venue itself. Maybe the space is themed or in perfect harmony with the venue and its character.
